Retirement Planning Advice Brisbane

Retirement is something we all hope to do only once — so it’s worth getting right. Whether you’re five years out or ready to finish work next month, the decisions you make now shape the next 30 years of your life.

Queensland Financial Group has been helping Brisbane families retire with confidence since 1989. As fee-for-service advisers, we work for you — not a product provider.

The questions we help you answer

  • Do I have enough money to retire — and how long will it last?
  • How do I maximise my super contributions before I finish work?
  • Am I entitled to the Age Pension or other Centrelink benefits?
  • Should I fully retire, or ease out with part-time work?
  • What’s a transition-to-retirement pension, and would it suit me?
  • How do I protect my capital once I stop earning?

How we help

  • Superannuation contribution strategies — making the most of concessional and non-concessional caps in the years before retirement
  • Tax minimisation — structuring your income streams to keep more of what you’ve saved
  • Centrelink and Age Pension optimisation — legitimate strategies to maximise your entitlements
  • Small business CGT concessions — for business owners selling up to fund retirement
  • Transition-to-retirement pensions — accessing super while still working
  • Capital protection — investment strategies suited to retirement, not accumulation
  • Estate planning — making sure your wealth ends up where you intend

Our process

  1. Discovery meeting — we understand your goals, lifestyle plans, and current position. No cost, no obligation.
  2. Strategy development — we model your retirement scenarios and build a written plan (Statement of Advice) with clear, transparent fees disclosed upfront.
  3. Implementation — we handle the paperwork with super funds, Centrelink and product providers.
  4. Ongoing review — retirement rules change every year. We keep your strategy current.

Frequently asked questions

How much super do I need to retire in Australia?
It depends on your lifestyle, home ownership, and Age Pension eligibility. The ASFA Retirement Standard is a common benchmark, but the right number is personal — that’s exactly what our modelling works out for you.

When can I access my super?
Generally from your preservation age (60 for most people now) once you meet a condition of release, such as retiring. From age 65 you can access super regardless of work status.

Can I get the Age Pension if I have super?
Possibly — the Age Pension is means-tested on assets and income, not simply denied to people with super. Good structuring can significantly improve your entitlement.

What does retirement advice cost?
We charge on a fee-for-service basis with all fees disclosed upfront before you commit to anything. Your first meeting is free.
